The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have all been saying the same thing after Paul Pogba scored a stunning free-kick for France during their friendly fixture against Russia yesterday. Pogba’s dead-ball strike just after half-time put Les Bleus 2-0 up at the Krestovsky Stadium as the Didier Deschamps’ side won 3-1 against the summer’s World Cup hosts. United fans can keep up to date with their internationals on the Manchester United website.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been going through a rough patch at the moment as public criticism from Jose Mourinho has seemingly led to a break down in relationship between the French playmaker and the Portuguese tactician. Playing football under a different manager than Mourinho will feel good for Pogba as he played with a lot more freedom for his country. The current United side under the ex-Real Madrid and Chelsea boss has looked devoid of attacking inspiration in the last few months and it’s led to a number of fans complaining about the style of football.
Pogba left Juventus for an Old Trafford return at the beginning of last season and has only been able to show glimpses of the brilliance that he is capable of. The fans have put down the Frenchman’s dip in form to the system in place as Mourinho’s defensive style has been blamed for hampering Pogba’s development. Pogba and co will be hoping for a strong end to the season as they continue to fight in the Premier League and FA Cup. The Old Trafford faithful are in the driving seat in the race for the top four as they sit nine points clear of 5th placed Chelsea, whilst also having a mouth-watering tie against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-finals to look forward to.
